Technical Delivery Tutor - Electrical Engineering

Are you an Electrical Engineer looking for a change?
Would you like to "down tools" and teach the engineers of the future?
Would you like to work for a fantastic training provider based in South Cumbria?

With on the job training this role would suit someone looking to move away from the trade and move into a teaching role where they can pass on skills and knowledge to the future Engineers. You will need to be able to demonstrate via certificates that you have completed a minimum of an HNC in Engineering.

Main duties and responsibilities:

1. We are seeking applicants who hold a minimum of HNC in their engineering area of expertise to deliver technical certificates in our training facilities. Industry experience is preferred although not mandatory. Previous teaching experience is not essential as training will be provided, however candidates must be prepared to work towards attaining a teaching qualification.
2. To teach up to and including level 3 in electrical engineering.
3. To teach up to and including level 4 Maths.
4. Project Management - deliver up to level 3.
5. CAD - deliver up to level 3.
6. To carry out research and product development for new qualifications in line with customer demand.
7. To design bespoke Technical Training Courses to customer specifications.
8. To supervise or assist with supervision of students.
9. To contribute to the development, planning and implementation of a high quality curriculum.
10. To assist in the development of learning materials, preparing schemes of work and maintaining records to monitor student progress, achievement and attendance.
11. To participate in the development, administration and marking of exams and other assessments.
12. To provide pastoral care and support to students.
13. To participate in the administration of the department`s programmes of study and other activities as request

The company was established in June 2000 by 5 well know local partner companies within the energy and engineering sectors. The client has a fantastic success rate with over 98% of apprentices progressing into full time employment. Their learners include; Apprentices, Adult learners, Higher Education learners and other corporate learners on short courses. They have five modern training centres across Cumbria with classrooms, workshops and IT suites to complete learners` experience.

You will work alongside other trainers and assessors in the same position and will have support and opportunities to develop. The training centres have state of the art learning facilities including working workshops for practical learning and classrooms for theoretical learning

Is this job right for you?
The role of Technical Delivery Tutor is to design and deliver Technical Training to both young people and adults. The training may be as part of a Technical Certificate or as part of a bespoke programme.

The role will also include the progressive development of the curriculum and the material associated with its delivery. You will required review course content and delivery methods on a regular basis while assuming responsibility for managing course and learner performance goals. The role also involves collating and recording all relevant evidence of learning and providing feedback and support to learners on a one to one/ group basis. It would suit someone who has a strong knowledge of the subject area combined with a broad subject background enabling contributions to teaching programmes. Ideally someone who has electrical maintenance background or instrumentation background would be a great fit!

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience;

Requirements (Essential)

• Hold a minimum of an HNC in Engineering
• Have a sound knowledge of Engineering principles
• Good numeracy, literacy and computer skills
• Communicates effectively, both orally, and in writing, with learners, employers and other professionals
• Driving License
