Job description:
Quality Technician - Spider are recruiting for a Quality Technician on behalf of a highly successful manufacturing company based in North Ipswich. This training and development role would suit a candidate looking to start a career in Quality Control.

Reporting to the Lead Quality Engineer, you will use predetermined inspection procedures to participate in the inspection, testing and evaluation of all supplier products and services. The ideal candidate will rotate through all aspects of Quality, developing experience throughout the business, with the view of becoming Customer Quality Engineer and ISO Auditor.

Key responsibilities:

• Respond to Internal quality issues and investigate production quality issues
• Assist with calibration of all test and measurement equipment, conforming with Calibration requirements, organising equipment availability for calibration, site visits and ongoing record keeping
• Exercise independent judgement to accept or reject product and interpret drawings, participating in the disposition of all purchased materials found to be deficit
• Assist quality/warranty analyst with the inspection, testing and evaluation of manufactured and assembled products. Implement effective product and process audits
• Assist in the creation of Inspection Instructions and visual aids to improve training and support the organisation's specifications
• Assist with improvement activities in manufacturing, PPM improvement programs and other manufacturing related activities
• Perform patrol inspections and QA gate checks
• Be accountable for non-conforming material containment in purchased goods inventory
• Conduct ISIRs for all purchased, fabricated and assembled parts and units, liaising with suppliers on quality issues and the collection of defective material, providing management interface when required
• Participate in review meetings with Engineering and Purchasing teams, with the possibility of attending daily production meetings as advised by the Lead Quality Engineer
• Assure continued conformance to procedures for Spot weld samples and templates
• Disassemble returned products returned for factory and field complaints
• Collate monthly supplier metrics, assisting Purchasing with ongoing Supplier Development
• Perform Final Inspections and any additional duties as assigned by the Lead Quality Engineer


Skills and attributes required:

• A level of Quality experience in a manufacturing environment
• Technical proficiency in the use of dimensional inspection tools
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and 14001 standards is advantageous
• Good communication skills via email and the telephone
• Ability to proficiently use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Access


This is full time position with a starting salary of up to £19,000 per annum. Following a probation period, benefits within the company include 25 days paid holiday, Private Medical Insurance, Optical/Dental benefits, Death in Service cover, Childcare vouchers, Cycle to Work Scheme and a Contributory pension. Onsite parking is also available and is close to the A14/A12 routes however is accessed easily via public transport.
